Let’s hear from someone who has already visited Bum La Pass. Vinayak, a traveler who has shared his mesmerizing experience of riding across this place.

Would you like to cover the two borders via road within 3 days?

It sounds impossible, right! It all started because of our wish for the Himalayas. Obviously, the famous Leh-Ladakh comes first. But we thought of something new. Arunachal Pradesh, the land of dawn-lit mountains. Imagine the home of picturesque landscape, tranquil lakes & monasteries. Bag packed, took a flight, rented the bikes & started to our first destination, Dirang. We took the Trans Himalayan highway route which covers the Indo-Bhutan Border & headed towards Dirang.

Day 2

We did some sightseeing at Dirang, mainly Sangti valley, an unknown valley surrounded by the Eastern Himalayas covered with fruit orchards, dotted with pristine forests & meandering hill rivers & home for traditional culture & black-necked cranes during winter. Later we head towards Tawang via Sela Pass, the world’s second-highest motorable pass (13700ft).

Day 3

We started with a sunrise view & visited Tawang monastery, which perched on a hill, overlooking the ridge & surrounded with clouds, India’s largest & the second largest in the world. Later we head over to our major destination, the Bum La Pass(15200ft) Snowbounded for almost the entire year due to its steep elevation & presents a mesmerizing view of Tibetan plateau.

The road to the pass takes many scenic views making it memorable for a lifetime. Well maintained by our Indian Army & were received with refreshments & warm stories about the Indo China War, Dalai Lama’s refugee route, etc which was like flipping up the history pages in front of me. They showed us the watchtowers of China over the mountain which we merely see through our naked eyes. The unbeatable hospitality of people, jaw-dropping natural scenic & enriched history stories filled in our hearts we took our flight back to our home.
